What's new

  • Activity stepped up: CBTC on-chain transactions more than tripled month over month, up roughly 212% to 1.42M in May.

  • Supply grew to 30.49 BTC, still 1:1 backed and independently attested via Chainlink Proof of Reserve.

Why it matters

Canton is privacy-enabled, which means real usage is often not visible externally.

Aggregated CBTC activity is a useful proxy for measurable Canton utility today: throughput and on-chain activity on the Bitcoin liquidity that venues, wallets, and partners build on.

Three new places to use CBTC on Canton

Three integrations this month, spanning an AMM, a private trading protocol, and an options venue:

  • OneSwap, by Sats Terminal. Permissionless AMM. CC/CBTC pool live and open to any Canton wallet, with standard AMM fees accruing to liquidity providers.

  • Kora. Private trading protocol and Canton Network Featured App. The CBTC/USDCx pair is now live, with activity private at the protocol level.

  • Raven, by the Palladium team. Bitcoin options are now live. The first options venue in the CBTC ecosystem.

The bottom line

This is how we connect BitSafe progress to Canton progress with proof, without exposing private counterparties. And the Bitcoin behind these numbers is secured differently from the wrapped BTC institutions already hold: CBTC's underlying Bitcoin sits in single-use Taproot lockboxes held under FROST threshold signatures across independent institutional attestors, settles on Canton, and is verified continuously by Chainlink Proof of Reserve, with Quantstamp-audited contracts and CIP-56 compliance.
