Backed by a further 13,040,000 CC from the Canton Foundation Development Fund, BitSafe today confirmed a second grant for Decentralization Manager, the open-source framework that helps applications on Canton Network run across independent nodes without giving a single provider sole control.
Single-key co-validation supports use cases across the ecosystem. Wallets can offer co-validated accounts hosted across independent nodes, keeping users in control of their keys while preventing any single host from freezing, impersonating or locking them in. Custodians can keep accounts available when a host goes offline. RFQ DEXs and trading venues gain multi-node resilience while keeping single-signature execution, so filling an order never waits on a governance vote. Long-lived tokenized assets can rotate operators through a governed process, with a full on-chain record and no downtime.
The Canton ecosystem is ready for a new generation of applications built on decentralized infrastructure. Decentralization Manager's threshold-signing model distributes control and governance across multiple signers. The newly-granted single key co-validation model distributes hosting, not control. Users keep their own key and authorize each transaction with a single signature, while independent co-validators confirm it across multiple nodes. If one host goes offline, the party and the wallet, application, or asset it supports stay live, reducing operational and custodial risk without sacrificing control.
Combined with the first grant of 8,500,000 CC, the Foundation has now committed 21,540,000 CC to Decentralization Manager. That makes it the largest allocation the Development Fund has made to a single project this year. The work has already begun, with capabilities delivered in sequence over the coming months and published as they ship.
